Course Description:
We are fortunate to host Neijing scholar Dr. Edward Neal for his first lecture in the New Jersey/New York City area. This introductory lecture will cover essential concepts of Neijing cosmology presented in the Suwen.
Although this text is considered to be the foundation of Classical Chinese medicine, its language can be challenging to understand and then apply to our practice of medicine. This lecture will begin to elucidate some of the principles described in the Suwen to give insight to the world view held by our medical forefathers. This course will explore basic principles of cyclical time, the pivot of nature’s breath, and the basic motion patterns within cyclical time. As classical acupuncturists, it is a wonderful way to enhance our understanding of the Neijing by learning more about the context in which it was written.
Participants will have the opportunity to study translations of passages from the Neijing, gain an understanding of the etymology of the characters, the philosophical concepts expressed by them and their clinical applications. This seminar will give classical practitioners further insight into the Neijing and its language.
