“What Would Fu Do?”

Qing Dynasty Physician Fu Qing Zhu’s Theories and Treatments in Gynecology

with Cara Frank, L.OM.

Sunday, October 16, 2011 - 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

The Won Institute, Glenside, PA

Presented by the Association for Professional Acupuncture in Pennsylvania

About the seminar:

This is an exploration of the theories, treatments and formulas of the Qing dynasty physician Fu Qing Zhu’s gynecology with traditional TCM female physiology. Fu Qing Zhu’s book on Nu Ke (gynecology) is one of the most important pre-modern texts on the topic. Many of his formulas are still used today. Fu’s work and writings set a new standard in understanding disease mechanisms and pattern differentiation in gynecology.

This course will review female anatomy and physiology according to traditional Chinese medicine and then compare that to Fu’s disease discussions and treatments. Time will be spent outlining guiding principles in the treatment of gynecological disorders. Amennorhea, dysmennorhea, PCOS, irregular Menses, and Abnormal Uterine Bleeding are among the syndromes that will be discussed.
